Crazy Postman
I know the following to be true, as it happened to me!
As with any mail service in the world, the postman/woman turns up at your house and delivers the mail if at all possible. If for whatever reason they are unable to deliver, they post a card in your letter box to notify you to collect from the post office - standard practice for everyone I would imagine.
So, I get one of these notifications in our mail box, and I was expecting a small package that would have been too large, and if no one was home, then it could not be delivered. Fair enough, as the house does not always have someone here. Off I went to the Central Post office in Udon Thani with notification card and passport in hand, only to be given a letter from the bank in return! The letter was not registered mail or tracked mail in any way, it was a standard letter/ bank statement. The size of it was 19cm x 10cm, so nothing too large, and could have been placed in the mail box all too easily - so why then did the postman choose to take this letter back to the post office, write out a notification card, and slip that in the box instead? I really can't get my head round this one, talk about making work for themselves, but worse still, making me go out of my way to collect something that could and should have been delivered!
