Bookhouse And Coffee Shop Udon Thani
Phon Phisai, Udon Thani
The Bookhouse and Coffee Shop in Udon Thani first opened in 2019, and is a restaurant, book shop, coffee shop and all round social gathering spot, all in one, with a range of meals that is just jaw-dropping. The current menu consists of more than 140 Western, Indian, Mexican, and Italian dishes plus another 70 Thai dishes, so the wives can enjoy a meal too if ferang food is not to their liking.
I cannot recall the last time I have seen more than 200 choices of meals in any restaurant, and I have not even mentioned the equally enormous range of beers, spirits, wines and cider. Then there are the desserts and ice cream to round the meal off. If you are looking for either a full English, American, Scottish or Continental breakfast, they are all available too. It may come as no surprise then to discover that the Bookhouse and Coffee Shop in Udon Thani won the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence in 2013.
The Bookhouse and Coffee Shop also offers a range of thin & crispy Pizzas, plus biscuit in gravy and for the Americans, which apparently is incredibly popular. Sunday roasts, sandwiches, and Kebabsare all available, and the choices just keep on coming.
Nok, the owner, is a lovely woman, and speaks excellent English, and has a business brain that would not look out of place anywhere in the world. Cooking is her passion, and she just loves to prepare all food types and is eager to see her customers totally satisfied when they leave the premises.
Inside the restaurant there are tables and chairs to accommodate up to 24 people, and two breakfast style bars to seat 6. Outside a further 18 places are available, so there is ample room here too.
The decor inside the restaurant is not exactly fantastic, and could perhaps benefit from a lick of paint and a few other minor cosmetic changes, however it still has a nice feel, is pleasant and has a relaxed atmosphere, just as it should be. Large glass-panelled doors and windows are present at both the front and real are a real plus, letting in plenty of natural light without the sun beaming directly inside.
Fans and air conditioning are in place to keep you cool and there is low level background music (mostly UK chart music from years gone by), and sometimes a large widescreen TV where BBC World News is shown, where you can keep up with current events across the globe. Free Wi-fi is also available for visitors to the restaurant, and a no smoking policy is in force. There is a designated smoking area outdoors should you feel the urge to indulge. The Bangkok Post (in English) is also available everyday.
The Bookhouse and Coffee Shop opening hours are from 8.30am to 10.00pm, every day of the year. If you are wandering if this is the same Bookhouse and Coffee Shop that was once located on the Adunyadet Road, near the Ruysuk Guesthouse, then yes it is.
It is possible to call and order a meal to be delivered to you, but only if you live within about 1km of the restaurant. Call Nok on 0850 446990 for more details.
