Worldwide Flights to Thailand
Tickets & Reservations
There are no direct flights to Udon Thani from outside Thailand, although the airport is designated as an International Airport. You will typically fly to Suvarnabhumi Airport to the east of Bangkok and take a connecting flight from there or Don Mueang airport, Bangkok (in the centre of the city). All inclusive flights to Udon Thani will normally include a flight to Udon thani from Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi Airport with Thai Airways, Thailand's premium domestic airline. Flight time to Udon Thani from Bangok is approximately 1 hour.
It is worth noting that only Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways operate domestic flights to Udon Thani from, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. All other domestic carriers fly from Don Mueang airport, in central Bangkok. Thai Airways now operate a 'no-frills' service, thus reducing some flight costs, and this is why Air Asia have been stopped from operating from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.

On arrival at Udon Thani airport, and having passed through baggage reclaim, simply exit the baggage reclaim area via the only door that is available to you, and walk straight on, where the terminal exit is directly ahead of you. Taxis are available at Udon Thani airport, although metered taxis are not permitted to enter the airport terminal. Look out for people holding up a cardboard sign saying 'Taxi', negotiate a price and drive off. It should not normally cost more than 200 baht in to Udon Thani central. Journey time from Udon Thani airport to the city centre will typically take about 20 minutes, day or night. Many Udon Thani hotels offer airport collections and it is always worth asking the question, once you have booked your accommodation if it not clear on the website.
Getting back to the airport is easier, as tuk tuks, and all taxis, metered or private, are permitted to drop passengers off at the terminal. On arriving at the terminal building, head to the entrance at the left and proceed straight on to where you will see the check-in gates behind large glass panels. Check-in, and make your way up the escalator, where you will find a restaurant (which over-charges for everything as all airports do), and the departure lounge. Friends and family members can stay with you anywhere in the terminal, as far as the departure lounge.
